HOW TO CREATE CUSTOM RINGTONES FOR iPHONES USING iTUNES
We all want to set specific time in a song as our ringtones and cant get it on iTunes store, or don't want to pay $1.29 for a mainstream ringtone, you could create yours in a whole lot of steps, broken them down into little steps in pictures.
This tutorial is for Windows Operating System users, the prerequisites are:
- iTunes 12.7 or later
- iPhone connector Cable
First: Run iTunes on your Windows Os,
NB: You cant do this to music on Apple music because they are not editable, songs must be downloaded to your system.
Step 1: Drag the song to iTunes. [Click to learn how to drag and drop to iTunes]
Goto recently added or searched for the song you recently added to iTunes
Step 2. Right click on the song to bring out more options, then goto "song ïnfo"
Step 3. When you hit song info a window pops up, goto Options as seen below.
Step 4: In the options tabs you can adjust the equalizer or loudness of the song, you can also limit the song.
we are interested in limiting the song as Apple doesn't accept any ringtone longer than 39 seconds or 0:39 mins.
Below you can see I limited the song to 39s or 0:39mins.'
tick on both start and stop boxes to activate the limit after you have set the limits.
then hit "ök"
If done correctly, you song should have a duration of the selected stop ( mine is 42seconds).
Reduced from 2 minute to 42 seconds |
AAC are file formats for basic apple music files and tones, when done you will get a notification.
You should have two versions of the song under the same album, the lover is the AAC version.
NB: Please repeat Step 2 - Step 4 to remove the limit from the song, untick the start and stop boxes respectively.
Step 6: Right Click on the AAC version to bring out more options and hit "show in explorer""
Step 7: This should take you where the AAC version is being stored, On the window, go to view and tick ""File name extension" to reveal the file extension in explorer in this case .m4a
Step 8: Right click and rename the AAC file.
Step 9: Change the extension of the AAC version from .m4a to .m4r as seen below.
click Yes when asked if you want to change it.
Step 10: Connect your iPhone to your Workstation and goto Tones on iTunes, then cascade iTunes and the Ring tone window for easy drag and drop.
Finally drag and drop your new ringtone to your iPhone.
Step 11: Goto Settings > Sounds & Haptics
Under SOUNDS AND VIBRATION PATTERNS , select Ringtone and select your new ringtone.
Congrats on saving a whole lot of $1.29 and stressing yourself!!!
