HOW to DISABLE a STUCK KEY on the KEYBOARD

Have you had one of those frustrating moments with your keyboard where a key keeps repeating or malfunctioning? Well... I have! Recently, the "delete" key on my PC started malfunctioning. I would write codes, and once I highlight texts, I realize my codes are gone. At first, it was frustrating and I opted to get an external keyboard not until I realized my "delete" key was stuck. I did a tad bit of research on how to fix the malfunctioning key and I came up with a few solutions but I'd be buttressing on one which is a free software - SHARP KEYS.

Here are a few steps on how I successfully disabled the stuck key:
  • Download SharpKeys and Install on your Computer
  • After downloading, installing and launching the program, the SharpKeys Window will display the image below.
Image 1- click on Add

Now, click on the Add button (bottom left), a list of keys will be displayed, this also doubles as key imitator "according to the author"
Image 2- click on "type key" button and type in the affected key.

Image 3- proceeding with the E key

PS: For the sake of this demo, I'm using the E key as my stuck key as I have long replaced my initial stuck key- "delete" key.
  • If you are not trying to make keys like the previous, then select the first list item on the right [turn key off] to disable the stuck key. See image 4

Image 4- click on Turn key off.

  • Click on OK and "write to registry" to save changes, you will have to reboot your computer to effect the change. See image 5

I hope this helps you figure out how to disable stuck keys on your keyboard. If you found this article insightful please do leave a comment, Thank you.
